Types of Announcements Class Announcements are created by the class instructor and are the first page students see when they enter class. Faculty Announcements are created by academic administrators and are addressed to faculty only. System Announcements are created by WebTycho Support and are addressed to all WebTycho users.

To Create or Edit a Class Announcement:
- Select Class Announcements on the Class Menu (beneath the class instructor's name.)
- Select Edit This Class Announcement at the top of the Class Announcements page.
- Enter text into the text box. You may use Plain Text, the Text Formatting Editor, or HTML.
- Click on the Submit button below the text box. The announcement will appear in the Classroom Announcements page.
Important: Control File Size for Class Announcements To avoid lost text during editing and slow page loading, please keep the total content on the Class Announcements page small to moderate in length. To avoid this problem yet retain past announcements, you may decide to cut and paste past Class Announcements in a conference titled "Past Announcements" or the like.
Emergency! How to Recover Lost Text If after clicking on Edit This Class Announcement you find that your lengthy page of text has been reduced to just a few lines (See File Size above) simply click Cancel, and then call WebTycho Support who will help you try to recover lost work. Recovery is not assured so we strongly advise keeping your page size small to moderate in length.
Your First Class Announcement Helping students arrive in class ready to go Although our welcome letter includes instructions for making these preparations before class begins, to help ensure that all students are ready to go we suggest that as soon as you have access to your class, please post a Class Announcement encouraging students to make sure that they are technically prepared for a WebTycho class. Sample draft text to get you started is included here.
Hello Students, Until your class begins, please take this time to make technical preparations. These include:
- Following the checklist provided in the Help Site which is available in the Help Menu.
- Making sure your computer is compatible with WebTycho. To do so click the "Check your Browser" button on WebTycho's log-in page.
- Setting Account Preferences.
- Reviewing WebTycho Orientation which is available under Options Menu.
- Becoming familiar with the online library.
- Gathering books and other class materials.
