Assessments Area
The concept behind the Learning Content Management (LCM) system is to provide faculty with a method of creating hierarchical, tracked content for a WebTycho class and for delivering assessment activities to students and recording their responses.
- LCM materials are comprised of two parts: Modules and Questions.
- Modules and questions are linked to each other but are created separately.
- Many people find it helpful to create a library of questions first. Then, while creating a Module, it is easy to choose questions to add from the library.
- A single question may be used in several separate Modules.
Please read this important note about using the Gradebook with Modules
Assessment Tools are Available in the Faculty Center

IMPORTANT Students will not be able to access Modules unless you make them available in one or both of two ways:
A. Under Course Content on Class Menu
- Click on Faculty Center
- Place a checkmark in the Available box to the left of the Use Assessment Tools links.
- The list of Modules will appear on the Class Menu under Course Content.

B. Student Assignment Folder through a Gradebook Entry While creating or editing a Module, select Graded for Completion Status, and Yes for Make Gradebook Entry.

This is what students will see in their Assignment Folders.
MODULES Modules are the core of the LCM material structure. Modules contain assessment activities and control their delivery.
Course Module. There is one and only one Module that is designated as the Course (or Parent) Module and in WebTycho it is the page that is presented upon clicking Manage Assessments in the Faculty Center. It is the root of the LCM material hierarchy and is used by the LCM system to determine the starting point for material and information display. The Module ID uniquely identifies that module within a class. The ID is automatically assigned by the system.
Title is the one-line descriptive text that typically identifies the module to users. It is also the text that is presented to students as the hot link to access the Module from the Class Menu.
Type indicates what kind of module this is. The available types are Course, URL, Node, Test, and Content.
Tracked indicates whether or not completion data is kept for this module.
Single Instance indicates that this Module should only appear once. In more complex LCM material structures, it might be useful to have a Module appear multiple times, particularly in remediation branches.
Prerequisites are Modules that must be completed before the material and/or action(s) for this module become available. If prerequisites are not used, then this Module's contents are always available.
URL is the location of material that is delivered to the student.
Child Modules is the list of sub-modules within the Course Module.
Module Types
URL. This is the simplest type. When accessed, this Module directs the user to the specified URL after recording any completion and tracking information.
Node. This type is the root of a sub-branch of a Course hierarchy. Nodes can contain one or more Modules of any type, with the exception of Course Modules of which there is only one per class.
Course. This type is a simple sub-type of a Node module and performs exactly like one. There can be one and only one Module of type Course in the materials for a single class.
Test. This type contains questions and controls the delivery of those questions to the student.
- Multiple Attempts For Test Modules. You may indicate whether the student will be allowed to take the test multiple times.
- Number in Test. This is simply the number of questions to be presented for this Module assessment activity. The questions will be presented to students in a random order from this Module's question pool.
- Number to Pass. You may specify the number of questions the student must get correct to be given a passing status for this Module. A value of 0 indicates that the student will pass regardless of the number of questions they get correct.
- Question Pool. This is the group of Questions available for this Module. If more Questions are added than the number of Questions to be delivered in the assessment activity, only part of the pool will be used for each student. This allows for each student to be given the Questions in different order, and for each student to be given a different set of Questions.
QUESTIONS
ID uniquely identifies the Question.
Title is the one-line descriptive text that typically identifies the Question.
Type indicates what kind of Question this is. Types of questions may be True/False, Multiple Choice, and Essay.
Text is the actual text of the question.
Machine Graded indicates whether or not the computer will grade this Question or whether faculty will manually assign grades.
Points is the number of points to be awarded if this Question is answered correctly.
Use Feedback indicates whether or not feedback will be presented to the student based on if they correctly answer the question or not.
Correct Feedback is given if the question is answered correctly.
Incorrect Feedback is given if the question is not answered correctly.
