Troubleshoot Problems with the TFE (Optional Tool, Moderate Complexity)
TFE Will Not Open If you did not click Grant the first time you were presented with the security warning certificate then you will be unable to open a text box with the TFE until you clear cache.
What Should I Do About Yellow Tags? If yellow tags appear within your text box you may delete them. Doing so will not harm your text.

What to Do if Text is Lost While Typing For text pasted into or typed directly into the TFE these characters will display without problem:
` - = [ ] \ ; * , . / ~ ! @ # $ % ^ ( ) _ + { } | : ? | " '
However, other special characters may result in lost text. If you submit a text in WebTycho and then find that your text has been deleted, it may be because an unacceptable special character is included within. For this reason we recommend that you create your text offline so if this happens then you may return to the original document and manually delete special characters not included in the above list, and then try again. See also auto settings for Microsoft Word.
Workaround: How to Include Special Characters Problematic special characters may be used if typed as ascii coding. For example, instead of typing the keyboard command for a Left Double Quote you would type “
A list of ascii codes for other special characters is available from http://www.webmonkey.com/webmonkey/reference/special_characters/
Copy and Paste is Slow With Large Files When copying and pasting any large document (text, graphics, spreadsheets or other) it may take several minutes for your computer to copy the document to the clipboard. While the TFE is waiting to receive the text from MS Word it may seem that WebTycho and the TFE have timed out when in reality they have not. Please be patient for the data transfer from your computer into WebTycho.
Include Topic Note Text is not working Although you may have enabled Include topic note text with Account Preferences, you will not see the text if your instructor has not made it Available for everyone in the class.
